Notes made by Danny Nelson

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.

Bill Solomon, while bringing the word at Christ Church, EPC on November 15, 2009, shared five phrases that have impacted his life and how they relate to us as Christians. The first phrase, as noted above, was: The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.

Others want you to take on their main things as their main thing. Think of most politicians. They want their agenda to become your agenda so that you will vote for them and become their constituent. But you have to ask yourself a question: what is your motivation for living on this earth? What is your main thing? Take a look at the Westminster Shorter Catechism, which asks “What is the chief end of man?” The response, of course, is “to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.” Your main thing should be to reproduce Jesus Christ’s life in you.
